The Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA) is the only CFT certification body in Asia. It is also a non-profit organisation with a mission and a vision to nurture global FinTech talent with the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional conduct. You can join this supportive professional community even if you do not join the CFT. There are two membership grades for individuals and one for organisations.

Mr. Wilson C. Kwok graduated from University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom in 1986 with a MA Honours Degree in Accountancy with Economics together with a prize, for being the top student in Accountancy class. After his graduation, he joined KPMG, Edinburgh, UK Office for his Chartered Accountancy training and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1989. Mr. Kwok is a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. He was the Founding Executive Committee Member and Honorary Treasurer of the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (“IFPHK”). Besides his achievements in academics and business activities, he holds a number of positions in various Professional Associations and Charitable activities. Mr. Kwok has extensive experience in finance, auditing, international tax planning, financial management, consulting advisory, IPO arrangement, corporate finance and professional training etc. He was a committee member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants – PRC Technical Committee in 1994 for the preparation and overseeing the listing of the first batch of nine PRC “H” share companies in Hong Kong.

Mr. Jeffrey Ng

Jeffrey is the Director (Associate partner equivalent) of Lanyue蓝跃, at McKinsey & Co. The mandate is to help corporate to make the leap into digital businesses with delivery capabilities. He brings his experiences in setting up Fintech businesses, monetizing data and the relevant domain knowledge across wide spectrum of financial institutions to bring everlasting success in strategy, quick win to full implementation.

Mr. Mingles Tsoi

Mingles is an entrepreneur owning his own consultancy company since 1997. Besides executive search, he also specializes in fundraising and consulting for startup ventures. Currently, he is the CXO (Chief eXploration Officer) of ParticleX, a tech-based startups investor and accelerator that aims to help technology startups tap into the Greater Bay Area through connecting the market, resources, research, and talent by making use of its comprehensive network in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Previously, he was the Director of Startup & Innovation Services for KPMG China, mainly responsible for startup and innovative business consulting services for the region. Mingles is also a pioneer in startup education. He had been working with the CUHK Center for Entrepreneurship as Project Director for eight years. Some of his major accomplishments including the “Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge", the first CU Alumni Entrepreneur Census to investigate the success factors of leading entrepreneurs from local university education and the Google’s Empowering Young Entrepreneur (EYE) Program.

Besides entrepreneurial activities Mingles is also enthusiastic in youth development. He contributes his experience and knowledge in providing voluntary mentoring and business training services to various non-profit organizations. He was the Co-opted Members of the Working Group of Youth Development Fund of the Commission on Youth, and currently serving as Non-official Member of the Social Enterprise Advisory Committee respectively. He is also the founding members of Lions Club Hong Kong International Finance Centre, Hong Kong Institute of Social Impact Analysts and AIESEC Alumni Association of Hong Kong. Currently, He is the members of Smart City Consortium, Hong Kong Electronics & Technologies Association. He also serves as board member of the Hong Kong Business Angel Network (HKBAN) and as investor member of Cyberport Investor Network. Ms Khoo, CFA, CPA, is an asset management and investment banking professional with comprehensive buy-side and sell-side experience, inclusive of portfolio management, fundamental/quantitative/pre-deal research covering Asian and China markets, multi-asset class investment, and Big 4 financial advisory in Hong Kong and New York. She is a Board member of the CFA Society Hong Kong, an Honorary Advisor and Investigation Committee member of the Financial Reporting Council, and the CFA Institute’s Presidents Council Governance Committee member. Ms Khoo served as the President of the CFA Society Hong Kong from 2016 to 2018.

Ms. Juliana Lam

Ms. Juliana Lam is the former CEO of HSBC Life Insurance. She is also the former Executive Committee member and IFPHK president for 2005/2006 and Examination Committee in 2017/2018.

During her tenure at IFPHK, she helped to build CFP certification into a well-recognized professional qualification that upholds the highest professional standards to protect the consumer public. She actively participated in various committees and proactively lobbied support from corporations and individuals to support IFPHK’s vision and mission objectives.

In 2007, she was nominated and subsequently elected to serve as part of the international Board of FPSB Ltd, where she was responsible in maintaining and upholding the international standards of CFP certification licensees worldwide. Over her two-year tenure, she committed over four weeks of her leave every year to fulfill her duties, and have personally gained from the global exposure. Mr. Pong is a graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a B.Sc. and a EMBA degree. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERcM certificant and Holder of Qualified Retirement Adviser. He was granted a “World Outstanding Chinese Award” by “World Outstanding Chinese Association ” in 2006, “Capital Leaders of Excellence 2007 Awards” and “100% HK Branding Award 2018”.

Mr. Pong has very solid experience in traditional funds, hedge funds and venture capital. Mr. Pong is a regular contributor on financial/investment issues to the Hong Kong Economic Journal, Capital Magazine and author of a number of books on investment. He has always been invited as a guest speaker for financial training courses and investors’ education in PRC, HK, Taiwan and other Asian regions. He has made many financial comments as to when and where to invest in many occasions and in many leading newspapers and magazines in Hong Kong and Mainland China, TV and radio programs in the Asian region.

Ken Wong is the Chairman & Co-founder of BIBO. Established in 2000, BIBO — a specialist company in accounts receivable management — helps corporates turn debts into cash, with empathy and compassion as core values. Inspired by what he learnt from his career spanning Citibank, American Express, a local bank and several start-ups, he ventured into this ever-growing industry. An innovative thinker with a philanthropic heart, Ken is the guru and leader in branding, digital transformation and corporate sustainability within his company.

Grateful for his education from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he has been campaigning for scholarships and donations to his alma mater. A key member of a Lions Club he co-founded in 2004, he has been an active participant in many philanthropic activities promoting the well-being of Hong Kong.

Ken loves scuba diving, travelling and hiking around the world. Teaching his four grandchildren to dive and living a happy life are his principal focus, on top of mentoring his company staff.

As a member of thesenior management team of Manulife Hong Kong, Mr. Ng is also the Chairman of Board at Manulife Provident Funds Trustee CompanyLimited.A highly respected industry veteran, Mr. Ng has proven record in steering the strategic development of the MPF and pension business inthe territory. He also plays a pivotal role as an active influencer on retirement protection matters relating to the industry. Dr. Gloria Siu is the Chief Executive of Gain Miles Group, a professional consultancy group specializing in risk management, human resources and employee benefits. Gloria has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry; expertise on all industry aspects including corporate pension, employee benefits, general insurance and financial planning, from operations to business development; individuals to corporations. With the aim to increase public awareness on MPF and retirement, Gloria led the Gain Miles Research Team to conduct MPF focused studies and publish findings every year. Holding her belief in active management and continuous education, more than 300 seminars on various MPF development topics were conducted and the unique corporate solution – Pension Advisory Model was developed. Gloria is also in great interest to the healthcare development in Hong Kong, research focuses on employment based health insurance value and efficiency. A member of the standing Advisory Committee of Investor Education Centre (IEC) and Investigation Panel of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) appointed by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau since Year 2017, Gloria holds an MBA from the University of Leicester, UK and a business administration doctorate degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Mr. Elvin Tharm 

Mr. Elvin Tharm is currently Managing Director and Asia Retirement Strategy and Business Development of Manulife Investment Management. He is responsible for the development and execution of strategy for Manulife’s retirement businesses in Asia, along with business development and market entry activities across Asia. Prior to joining Manulife, Elvin was the Head of Business Development and Client Relationship for Mercer Hong Kong’s Wealth business. He was responsible for bringing together pensions and investment solutions for institutional investors (pension funds, insurance companies, endowment funds, MNC firms) and wealth management intermediaries (banks, private banks, investment funds platforms) in Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau and Taiwan. Before that, Elvin held several senior positions with Principal Financial Group in Hong Kong and prior to that, a consultant with Towers Watson in Los Angeles, California and subsequently in China covering Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Elvin graduated from the University of Iowa with a master’s degree in Actuarial Science and the Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong. He is also a Business and Strategy Sub-committee Member and Taskforce member of the Cross Straits Pension Forum of the Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association.

Ms. Jeanie Ho

Jeanie Ho is AVP, Head of HK Retirement Proposition and Asia Retirement Programs & Projects, Manulife (International) Limited, leading and driving retirement propositions for HK Retirement business (MPF and ORSO) covering solutions and digital initiatives for corporate and individual customers and for distribution channels. Jeanie also manages the enhancement, development and adoption of existing digital and non-digital properties for Manulife’s pension business in HK; and holds a key coordinating role between customer facing / delivery functions and back-end functions to deliver innovative, user-friendly and engaging experience to pension customers. She is also in charge of planning, overseeing and monitoring the entire book of work for the HK Retirement business, including securing budget and resources for IT-related projects. In addition, she heads the communication and event management for distribution channels and customers. Prior to her current role, Jeanie is responsible for the strategic development and distribution management of Manulife’s pension business in Hong Kong. She has demonstrated experience in developing strategies and initiatives to ensure Manulife stay competitive and sustain as the largest scheme sponsor in the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) market. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hong Kong and is a Fellow of the Life Office Management Institute.

Jeffrey Ng is currently with McKinsey & Co. He has 16 years professional experience as a data scientist, and built 2 data analytics teams. During 2008-2010, as consultant, built the credit risk and capital capabilities for 3 commercial banks in China. Before joining Mckinsey, he was the founding management team of a virtual bank, responsible for its Fintech business. “Benjamin” Wong Chan Seng – Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder: Benjamin is a serial entrepreneur, having previously co-founded two corporations. He oversees the day-to-day business operations, as well as the company’s strategic direction and business development. Prior to TranSwap, Benjamin started his career as a professional accountant at Ernst&Young in Audit and Assurance before moving to the entrepreneurial world as part of the founding team of Simmons SEA Ltd. Seeded by Hong Kong-based VC in May 1993, they acquired licensing rights of Simmons mattresses for distribution across the Asia-Pacific region. Benjamin was one of 3 co-founders in charge of carrying the venture with less than SG$300,000 in seed funding. After growing annual revenues to over US$200MM in less than a decade, they exited the venture in 2002, selling the business operations to Japan-based NIFCO for over US$300MM.
